How do you remove stubborn stains from faux mink velvet fabric?

Pre-cleaning: Use the cool-air setting on a hair dryer to blow away surface dust, then gently brush in the direction of the pile with a soft faux mink-bristle brush to prevent dirt from being pushed down to the base.

1. Urgent “localized” treatment can be completed at home—within 30 minutes.

Pre-cleaning: Use the cool-air setting on a hair dryer to blow away surface dust, then gently brush in the direction of the nap with a soft faux-mink brush to prevent dirt from being pushed down to the base.

Prepare the solution: Dilute a neutral wool detergent (or baby shampoo) with 30°C water (pH ≈ 6) at a ratio of 3:1—this is safe for polyester dyes.

Local cleaning:

Oil/Sauce: Place kitchen paper underneath to absorb the oil; gently dab the back of the stain with a nano-sponge soaked in the cleaning solution to transfer the oil onto the paper; press only on the front side—do not rub, as this may damage the pile.

Coffee/wine stains: Add 2 drops of white vinegar to the solution; blot–absorb–blot with a white cloth—about 70% of the color will fade.

Blood stains: Use the same solution, but with cold water (hot water will coagulate the proteins); add 1 drop of 3% hydrogen peroxide, let it sit for 1 minute, then blot dry.

Quick drying: Blot excess water with a dry towel, then use a cool-air hair dryer to blow the item dry from a distance of 20 centimeters until it is about half-dry; finally, hang it in a cool, shaded area to finish drying.

2. Whole-item “cold soak + cold wash” — use within 24 hours

Pre-treat

Turn garments inside out; spray the inner surface with a 5 g/L antistatic agent to reduce friction during washing.

Cold soaking

Wash in 30°C water with 2 grams per liter of faux mink fur detergent, at a liquid-to-fabric ratio of 1:15; press and soak for 8 minutes—do not rub, scrub, or machine wash.

Cold Bleaching

Wash in lukewarm water, changing the water three times, each time for 1 minute; during the final rinse, add 1 gram per liter of fabric softener to restore the hand feel.

Dehydration

Lay it flat on a dry towel, roll it up and press to remove excess water (do not wring); then place it in a laundry bag and spin at 400 rpm for 30 seconds.

Shaping and Drying

Hang on a wide-shoulder hanger with the plush side facing out, in a cool, well-ventilated area; once it’s about half-dry, gently fluff the pile with your fingers; and once fully dry, brush it lightly in one direction—this will restore approximately 95% of its original loft.
